Objective

To provide support and guidance to individuals facing homelessness, helping them build skills, gain confidence, and achieve personal and professional success.

Program Components:

Introduction and Orientation:

  • Welcome Session: Overview of the program, its goals, and how it can support participants.
  • Setting Goals: Individual and group goal-setting exercises to identify personal aspirations and objectives.

Life Skills Development: 

  • Financial Literacy: Basics of budgeting, managing money, and understanding credit.
  • Job Readiness: Resume writing, interview skills, and job search strategies.
  • Basic Cooking and Nutrition: Simple, affordable recipes and nutritional information for healthy living.

Personal Empowerment:

  • Building Self-Esteem: Workshops on confidence-building and self-worth.
  • Stress Management: Techniques for handling stress and maintaining mental health.
  • Time Management: Skills for organizing daily tasks and setting priorities.

Educational Support:

  • Literacy and Numeracy: Basic literacy and numeracy workshops tailored to needs.
  • Continuing Education: Information on educational resources and opportunities, including online courses and local programs.

Career Development:

  • Skill Building: Vocational training in areas such as computer skills, trade skills, or creative arts.
  •  Networking: Opportunities to connect with local businesses and mentors for job opportunities and advice.
  • Entrepreneurship: Introduction to starting a small business or side hustle, including business planning basics.

 Community and Social Support:

  • Peer Support Groups: Facilitated discussions and support groups for sharing experiences and mutual encouragement.
  •  Family and Community Engagement: Activities to strengthen family ties and community connections.
  •  Volunteer Opportunities: Encouraging participants to give back to the community through volunteering.

Creative Building Challenges:

  • Design Challenge: Create and present their own house designs or modifications to existing designs using craft materials.
  •  Build-a-Home Game: Simulate the construction process through interactive games or digital construction software designed for kids.

 Health and Wellness:

  • Physical Health: Workshops on maintaining physical health and accessing healthcare resources.
  • Mental Health: Access to counseling services and mental health support.

Practical Assistance:

  •  Access to Resources: Information on accessing local resources such as housing assistance, food banks, and legal aid.
  • Personal Support: One-on-one coaching or mentoring to address specific challenges and provide tailored guidance.

Success Stories and Inspiration:

  •  Guest Speakers: Inspirational talks from individuals who have overcome homelessness and achieved success.
  • Success Stories: Sharing stories of participants who have made significant progress to motivate and inspire others.

Final Evaluation and Celebration:

  • Progress Review: Assessing individual progress towards goals and achievements.
  • Celebration Event: Recognize accomplishments with a closing ceremony, certificates of completion, and community celebration.
12-16 weeks, with weekly 2-hour sessions for both kids and adults. (Program lengths and sessions can be adjusted)
